Oui Sports - Winter Edition

Sports are a great way to warm up on a cold day, but sadly all the outdoor sports Ben was ready to teach... Well none of them play so well in a foot plus of snow. And that foot plus was after getting help from those with magic who could melt some of it down for them. And when Mal was asked about winter sports on the Isle the answer was "It's more like... gang activity, than sports. And if someone broke their leg, we kinda laughed, so... Not really applicable here."

So they instead asked the Missrecalled to show off games and sports that can be played in deep snow. But the best games need more than one person, so maybe you need to find someone to play with?

Happy Little Cleaning Song

After so long with so many people all cramped into the school for so long that there was more than a little bit of mess. They could use a hand clearing everything up. Whistling while you work and a spoonful of sugar were both advised. But cleaning was always a better task with a buddy! And Team Work Makes The Dream Work, right?

The Isle

Gang Activities

What had once been a dank and dreary school in a mausoleum was now an icy dreary one. The ground outside was a mix of ice, muddy slush, and rocks. Neither fun nor pretty. But it was probably safer outside than in, and easier to be active dodging doomstones than skidding down the halls into broken lockers. But it was still frigid out. Perhaps some activity would help warm you up. But what? And whom with? Snowball fights might be a little extra dangerous, with all the muck mixed in and no place to go warm up. But maybe someone might be up for it anyway? Or stealing a doomstone to sled down the roof? What are you gonna do to stay warm?

Got No Chill?

Someone decided that there needed to be a fire to warm people up. Maybe that would have been a good idea, if the person who had started the fire had anything clue about fire safety. They - or maybe you! - had started the fire in one of the classrooms using broken desks for kindling. But the fire quickly spread to the other desks in the room and with so much paper detritus in the halls! Stop the fire, warn people, run away! Pick you poison but do it fast, the way this fire's spreading, this school might not last!

Sephiroth sighed in frustration. He hated feeling helpless.

"Alright then. Since now I have been given a long list of what we cannot do, what can we do?"

"Help each other. Fish when it is warm enough. Chell has been working on some other food plans. There are classes, but no one will blame you for skipping those. However we can work together to help our chances of getting out of here. If that's what we want."

Sephiroth at least knew a lot of survival techniques, but he had never been in a situation this bad before or with so many others who needed help.

"Why wouldn't it be what we want?" he grunted. "Surely any place would be better than here."

"Perhaps. I spent some time in Auradon. I chose to come back, though. I can be more of use here. And anyway... I'm more used to prison at this point. Breaking out is far more fun than being out."

"If someday we could get everyone out who isn't a threat, there would surely be no reason to stay," Sephiroth said. "Unless more who don't deserve it would arrive later?" He frowned. In that case, someone really would stay to tend to the newcomers.

He definitely didn't understand the thought of actually enjoying prison. He felt like a caged bird right now.

"More seem to constantly come," she said, nodding.

He sighed. Of course they would.

"Alright. Show me to what should be done next."

"Well now that the fire is out, maybe we can see if there is anything in this mess we can salvage..."

Sephiroth sighed and started going through the wreckage. The fire had been going quite a while, unfortunately. He doubted much, if anything, would survive. He pawed through the splintered and charred wood and paper.

She worked with him, moving things carefully. "We need to make sure there are no hotspots still smoldering too."

"I know. So far I don't see any." Seeing nothing in this stack was smoldering, Sephiroth turned his attention to another one. Eventually he found one, and he stomped on it to put it out.

She worked as well, pulling out a charred bit of wood. "I Hates C," she read out. "Charming place."

"And who wrote that? Gollum?" Sephiroth said dryly.

Yes, in his travels he had heard of The Lord of the Rings. And that was the first thought that jumped to his mind with such terrible grammar.

"Never met Gollum, whoever it is, cute?"

Sephiroth smirked darkly. "Not really."

He sighed, studying the statement. "Did a child really write that?" Maybe they didn't really mean it; 'hate' was a word thrown around lightly so often that it had lost a lot of its potency. But then again, who knew. Cloud had certainly learned to hate very young.

"Knowing this school, almost certainly."

"... And why do you say that? Does the school teach hate?"

She stopped and stared a moment then chuckled. "Oh, Sweetie. You are new here aren't you? The teachers here pride themselves on raising the next generation of villains. They teach hate, isolationism, seeing others as minions or worse, and evil schemes and plots. For example, Lady Tremaine teaches evil schemes. Mother Gothel teaches selfishness, called Selfies."

Sephiroth facepalmed. And he had thought it was difficult dealing with Cloud alone and his constant issues. Sephiroth had pretty much no skills with children, and certainly not children growing up like this. His reverse psychology methods never seemed to sink in with Cloud. He wouldn't dare try it on impressionable kids.

"I just got here when the fire started," he said. "I didn't have time to find the ropes, let alone learn them."

He folded his arms. "Why does Yen Sid allow this?"

"Ah. Yen Sid volunteered to come over to the Isle when it was being set up. He suspected that a bunch of prisoners with nothing else to do would eventually have children and he wanted to provide some balance, and make sure there was at least one adult present who actually cared about these kids. He allows it because he's not the one in charge. He just does his best, apparently."

"That is quite the commitment." And he frowned, pondering on all he'd learned. "You're sure what happened to him was an accident and not someone trying to get rid of him?"

"Oh of course not, sweetie," she said with a chuckle. "I know some of the others are gathering a list of suspects."

"As well they should. Some of these people might try to get rid of him just for fun." Or worse, what if they'd teach the kids how to do it? It sounded like anything went around here. It reminded him a bit of the chaos from back home.
