Oui Sports - Winter Edition

Sports are a great way to warm up on a cold day, but sadly all the outdoor sports Ben was ready to teach... Well none of them play so well in a foot plus of snow. And that foot plus was after getting help from those with magic who could melt some of it down for them. And when Mal was asked about winter sports on the Isle the answer was "It's more like... gang activity, than sports. And if someone broke their leg, we kinda laughed, so... Not really applicable here."

So they instead asked the Missrecalled to show off games and sports that can be played in deep snow. But the best games need more than one person, so maybe you need to find someone to play with?

Happy Little Cleaning Song

After so long with so many people all cramped into the school for so long that there was more than a little bit of mess. They could use a hand clearing everything up. Whistling while you work and a spoonful of sugar were both advised. But cleaning was always a better task with a buddy! And Team Work Makes The Dream Work, right?


The Isle

Gang Activities

What had once been a dank and dreary school in a mausoleum was now an icy dreary one. The ground outside was a mix of ice, muddy slush, and rocks. Neither fun nor pretty. But it was probably safer outside than in, and easier to be active dodging doomstones than skidding down the halls into broken lockers. But it was still frigid out. Perhaps some activity would help warm you up. But what? And whom with? Snowball fights might be a little extra dangerous, with all the muck mixed in and no place to go warm up. But maybe someone might be up for it anyway? Or stealing a doomstone to sled down the roof? What are you gonna do to stay warm?


Got No Chill?

Someone decided that there needed to be a fire to warm people up. Maybe that would have been a good idea, if the person who had started the fire had anything clue about fire safety. They - or maybe you! - had started the fire in one of the classrooms using broken desks for kindling. But the fire quickly spread to the other desks in the room and with so much paper detritus in the halls! Stop the fire, warn people, run away! Pick you poison but do it fast, the way this fire's spreading, this school might not last!

Sephiroth facepalmed. And he had thought it was difficult dealing with Cloud alone and his constant issues. Sephiroth had pretty much no skills with children, and certainly not children growing up like this. His reverse psychology methods never seemed to sink in with Cloud. He wouldn't dare try it on impressionable kids.

"I just got here when the fire started," he said. "I didn't have time to find the ropes, let alone learn them."

He folded his arms. "Why does Yen Sid allow this?"

"Ah. Yen Sid volunteered to come over to the Isle when it was being set up. He suspected that a bunch of prisoners with nothing else to do would eventually have children and he wanted to provide some balance, and make sure there was at least one adult present who actually cared about these kids. He allows it because he's not the one in charge. He just does his best, apparently."

"That is quite the commitment." And he frowned, pondering on all he'd learned. "You're sure what happened to him was an accident and not someone trying to get rid of him?"

"Oh of course not, sweetie," she said with a chuckle. "I know some of the others are gathering a list of suspects."

"As well they should. Some of these people might try to get rid of him just for fun." Or worse, what if they'd teach the kids how to do it? It sounded like anything went around here. It reminded him a bit of the chaos from back home.

River nodded. "Oh certainly. Or even more sinisterly because they have plans he might be in the way of. Which can't be good for us."

"And I suppose if they're plotting anything, the children will be caught right in the middle of it," he remarked.

"That is their plan, I think."

"If you're looking for someone to be the good influence you're talking to the wrong excon."

"And I have next to no experience with children," Sephiroth said dryly. "But it looks like we're all they have."

"Oh I have lots of experience with children. Been one a few times myself. Married one. If you see an idiot in a fez acting like he's 12 years old in a candy store, that'll be him."

Sephiroth wouldn't comment on being a child several times. Magic, he assumed.

"Is your husband here?" he asked instead. The description amused him. Zack acted like that sometimes.

"If he is, he's playing least in sight, but I suspect we'll know when he arrives."

"Would he do that?" Sephiroth wondered. Playing least in sight, that is.

"Possibly, but I wouldn't expect him to be good at it," she said with a grin.

Sephiroth smirked a bit, then sobered. "How many seem to be here?" he wondered. "Have they been counted?"

"Hard to tell. Take Conan for example. The kid doesn't seem to be here anymore, didn't go to Auradon. So... is he still around? Do we count him? Haven't seen him for months..."

That was troubling.

"If he's not either place, where would he go?" Sephiroth wondered. "Would he have been sent home?"

"Could have been sent home, could have been somewhere else. Could be hiding somewhere." Could be dead.

"Hiding for months? Is that possible here?" In such grim circumstances, it seemed unlikely.

"And I suppose with things as they are, you wouldn't know if anyone ever goes home when they disappear," Sephiroth said.

That was certainly disturbing too.

He sighed. The whole situation sounded almost hopeless.

"... You say this is a school," he said at last. "Can anyone teach here?" Perhaps they could teach some constructive classes to counter the terrible things the kids would be learning from the villains.

Although ... given all that he had learned, he was likely seen as a villain himself, to have been sent here. But that didn't mean he had to behave like one.
