Auradon

Oui Sports - Winter Edition

Sports are a great way to warm up on a cold day, but sadly all the outdoor sports Ben was ready to teach... Well none of them play so well in a foot plus of snow. And that foot plus was after getting help from those with magic who could melt some of it down for them. And when Mal was asked about winter sports on the Isle the answer was "It's more like... gang activity, than sports. And if someone broke their leg, we kinda laughed, so... Not really applicable here."

So they instead asked the Missrecalled to show off games and sports that can be played in deep snow. But the best games need more than one person, so maybe you need to find someone to play with?

Happy Little Cleaning Song

After so long with so many people all cramped into the school for so long that there was more than a little bit of mess. They could use a hand clearing everything up. Whistling while you work and a spoonful of sugar were both advised. But cleaning was always a better task with a buddy! And Team Work Makes The Dream Work, right?

The Isle

Gang Activities

What had once been a dank and dreary school in a mausoleum was now an icy dreary one. The ground outside was a mix of ice, muddy slush, and rocks. Neither fun nor pretty. But it was probably safer outside than in, and easier to be active dodging doomstones than skidding down the halls into broken lockers. But it was still frigid out. Perhaps some activity would help warm you up. But what? And whom with? Snowball fights might be a little extra dangerous, with all the muck mixed in and no place to go warm up. But maybe someone might be up for it anyway? Or stealing a doomstone to sled down the roof? What are you gonna do to stay warm?

Got No Chill?

Someone decided that there needed to be a fire to warm people up. Maybe that would have been a good idea, if the person who had started the fire had anything clue about fire safety. They - or maybe you! - had started the fire in one of the classrooms using broken desks for kindling. But the fire quickly spread to the other desks in the room and with so much paper detritus in the halls! Stop the fire, warn people, run away! Pick you poison but do it fast, the way this fire's spreading, this school might not last!

River laughed as she came up from behind him, hauling a makeshift cloth bag full of snow and slush and other wet ick. She twitched the cloth so that most of the ick landed in the fire, then turned to get more. "A fire extinguisher? On the Isle? I think you're still asleep, sweetie, because you're clearly dreaming. Are you coming to help me get more snow, or what?" she asked over her shoulder, already halfway down the hall.

She seemed as unconcerned as he seemed. She, however, was doing something useful, rather than demanding the impossible. Do tru to keep up, dear.

Sephiroth grunted in annoyance and followed her out to get more snow. "I just got here," he said. "I don't even know where this is. What Isle?"

It certainly looked like a dreary place. Even after the Heartless attacks, Hollow Bastion hadn't looked as bad as this.

"Hardly my fault if you're a little slow on the uptake," she said with a wink as she started loaded the tied together cloths with more snow. "This is the Isle Of The Lost, apparently. Lost their senses mostly, as near as I can tell. But on the plus side, at least you're not a child. Not looking like that anyway," she added as she gathered the edges of her "bag" together.

Sephiroth worked to gather snow as quickly as possible. He knew how fast fire could spread.

"Are there many children here?" he asked.

She headed back with her bundle, seemingly unrushed. "At the moment only one I think, but they keep arriving here, rather than in Auradon and no one quite knows why. I mean, I understand why I arrived on a prison isle in a land of morally snobbish people. But at their age, even my kill count was in single digits. What could actual children have done to be so bad to arrive here?" she tossed her snow on the fire and waited for him. "The people in Auradon keep taking them back with them when they go, but apparently they missed one last time."

He still had no idea what she was talking about, but he was trying to keep up with the conversation as he threw snow on the fire.

... And ... well. This certainly was an ... interesting person. He was tempted to comment on that kill count thing, but there were more important things to worry about at the moment.

"So people are being teleported to these places from all over the realms?" That was what it sounded like. "Do you have any way to contact Auradon?"

"They come to check on us when they can. But it just looks like they're doing well there. Well... compared to here anyway." She went back to gather more snow. "There is a whole spiel, but that'll wait till after the fire is out, I think."

"And how often is 'when they can'?" Sephiroth wondered as he quickly collected more snow. He was less and less impressed by what he was hearing. What was going on here?

"Not terribly often, about once a month or so. I've taken the journey myself, it's a rough one and frankly even the older ones are mostly kids. Last I was in Auradon they had maybe two or three people I would consider adults. Mallia, Aqua, maybe Sylvando. Though he is still on the dreadfully young side. Not sure if there is anyone older than twenty outside of those three. I would have stayed, but I thought I would be more help here." She dropped another load of snow, noting that the fire was nearly out at last.

"If passage is possible, why doesn't everyone simply go over there?" Sephiroth retorted.

And the name gave him pause. "Aqua?"

His latest batch of snow might hopefully extinguish the rest of the blaze.

"Passage is dangerous, and only the people in Auradon can let us out." She helped him finish off the fire, then leaned against a wall, fanning herself. "This was apparently a prison Isle originally. While I'm sure I could break out if I really wanted to... there are some natives here that make me understand why they want to keep them separate."

"How long have children ended up here?" Sephiroth frowned. Something definitely sounded amiss with the system. Why on Earth would children be sent to a place filled with such unsavory characters?

"Longer than I've been here. You'd have to ask Professor Yen Sid, he is the only one here who might have a full count that can be trusted."

Sephiroth blinked in shock. "Yen Sid?! Is he around now?" He knew of Yen Sid back in his world. Of course, who knows, maybe it wasn't the same one. The day was already strange; why not add something else odd to the mix.

"Well that depends, Sweetie. I take it you know him, then?" she asked.

"I know of someone by that name," he replied. "He may be the same one or not." Or it could be a situation like with Merlin. He had met several different ones.

"Ah, well," she said. "The short version is yes there is a Yen Sid here who is a teacher, however no you can't really talk to him right now."

Sephiroth didn't look impressed. "And why can't I?"

"On the surface? Seems to have been a lab accident."

"... You're saying he's injured?" Or worse?

"Badly. I stabilized him enough that he isn't going to die, but he isn't waking up. Just trying to keep him alive until they come back from Auradon so they can take him back there for treatment."

Well, that was just terrific.

"So you have no communication, people are getting hurt, and all you can do is wait for these Auradon people to decide to show up, which might not be for weeks?"

Sephiroth looked out the window. "What if I tried to fly there for help?"

"There are thorns all around the school, we only have one clear path to the shore. And beyond that is a barrier that keeps us all in. Those in Auradon have a way to lower it, we don't. This was a prison originally, after all."

"Yes, so you keep telling me," Sephiroth frowned. "These Auradon people sound highly inefficient at everything except trapping others. Haven't they left any supplies at all?" And why didn't they leave a way to communicate?

"They bring us supplies every time they come, but nothing that is enough to help with this. They say they're working on communication, but that was part of the point of this place."
