Auradon

Food Fright!

Fresh food stores have been running low! And with a focus on trying to get to the Isle rather than to farms or stores... the pickings are getting kind of slim. Well, there was enough shelf stable food to feed a whole school and castle worth of people, but is it really worth anything without fresh fruit and ice cream? Maybe you drew the short straw and have to make a meal with this. Or maybe this is a ton of food and you're sick of the griping and determined to make a meal they'll never forget out of the "scraps" they all turned their noses up at. Or maybe you just popped in to get a snack and someone else was already cooking. No matter what the story is, the kitchen is a little weird right now. So... how hungry are you?

Zen And The Art Of The Lawn

One of the first things most people noticed when they arrived at Auradon Prep was the perfectly manicured vibrantly green lawns. Well, now that some time has passed without a staff, the lawns are starting to look a little... not perfect. The king mentioned in passing that he was trying to figure out a solution, that while he knew there were other priorities he still wanted to fix this problem. And being the do-gooder you must be to land here... Well, perhaps you have some ideas how to mow and revitalize the landscaping?

The Isle

Un-Fun House Hall Of Mirrors

Somehow you wandered into Mother Gothel's office and it is just amazing. Oh, no sorry, it is just a maze. Of mirrors. It is hard enough to find a way out, but a glimpse of a face that isn't yours tells you that you might not be alone here after all....

Homeschool

Doc F, the headmaster gave everyone what might have been a homework assignment, if any of the students could actually make it home. But since everyone was trapped in the school, he decided to have everyone make it home in a different way. The current assignment was to make some part of the school feel more like it belonged to you. Make your mark. Claim your space. He made available spray paint and markers and all sorts of things most adults didn't want you using on school property. But then, the headmaster wasn't most adults, was he?

Rren could not help it. That rubbed them wrong even knowing it wasn't meant to and they wrinkled their nose, trying to push back irritation.

"Right. Ah, next question then?" Because maybe working through this solution might help get them past a thoroughly irrational reaction.

"Yes, please." They were going to work as much as they could, really.

And working did help, they started with digging deeper into the code, getting to sections they knew how to find but that looking at it now were not at all intuitive.

"You ah... may actually want to organize the emotion substrates better than mine are. To some degree the issue was that aspect of the programming was done in the ship computer before I was ever integrated. To be honest, it is surprising it worked as well as it did. They were set to tie into every other section and those where it failed I was able to integrate on my own."

The emotion sections were unique compared to the rest. This was almost entirely H'Naal's handiwork with only minor tweaks later, and more than anything else it showed how much he'd grown in understanding cybernetics in the years since his first additions.

This inched dangerously close to the parts they'd had trouble discussing, for all this part did not bother them. They were uncertain why it was so different and suspected if Ian had too many follow up questions they might end up declining to answer.

But right now, looking at this bit that was all H'Naal, they were inordinately happy but also... sad and they did Not Understand.

"How could that effect any emotions they already have that we're unaware of?" they asked, concerned.

"Depends how you do it. Given that they could be sentient and sulking at times already, your best bet is acting slowly and finding a way to really interact with them first. I ah, must admit I have been considering it when I should have been sleeping. I would suggest actually going back to my holoimage files. Tie a hologram to their whole program and try to interact with them. From there you can see how best to help expand, and if they are sentient, see where they actually want help."

Ian considered then nodded. "That makes a lot of sense. It is more to memorize, but it will be well worth it. Especially since we can utilize that in other ways as well."

"That said, it was not on the list of questions, so it will wait until after nails." Look not only did they want to make sure they both took breaks before anyone else decided to make them, they were particularly excited about experimenting with nail polish and make up and... okay look. They just enjoyed colors.

Ian chuckled. "You're really excited about nail polish, huh?"

Rren tilted their head, managing a look that was both confused... and very clearly faking it. "You only have yourself to blame for this, doctor. I had never considered the possibilities before you brought them up."

Ian chuckled. "Sure, blame the person about to have control over the colour of your nails," thy teased.

They were all innocence by this point. "Me? I would never say a word that is untrue."

Rren ducked their head, stifling a laugh. "Do I want to know the colors you are considering?"

"Then, perhaps I should make my way through the rest of your list of questions to hopefully change things in my favor." They resumed digging through the code, trying to process the best answers for the next questions.

Ian chuckled. "Perhaps. Getting that win also helps." They winked and settled back into work mode.

Rren looked up from the code just long enough to pull a face at Ian before focusing on it once again, going through the questions one at a time to make sure to clear all of them up. (With the exception of holoimaging and any other new questions that arose.)

Without looking up, Ian said "I can see that," with an amused tone.

"I have no notion what you could possibly be referring to," Rren replied dryly, not pausing in going through the code.

Rren had to hide a smile, it... was not nearly as effective as they told themself it was.

Rren actually had to make a point to pause. There was a reason they had said they would have to at a certain point before getting into it. "There. That is one list of questions answered and another list created. I believe that it is time for our break."

"I'm fine, Jenn," Ian said lost in the code for a moment. "I'll take a break in.... and you'r not Jenn and I'm not home. Right. Sorry. Nail polish. Okay."

Rren tilted their head, far too amused. "And this is precisely why we needed to set points to take breaks."
