Missrecalled TDM 1
You aren't sure how you landed here, or even where here is. But here you are. Some new place. Or maybe... maybe it is familiar. Maybe not. So... where are you?
AURADON
Welcome to Auradon! You have woken up in the perfectly manicured grass before a large castle. You're not the only one! if you follow the path to the Castle you'll discover it is the dorm for a large school attached at the back. Everything is amazing and elegant. There is a wing of rooms that are meant for girls, which are generally full of pink and white and sparkles and lace and frills. Very few of the doors are locked, but a lot of them are filled with personal belongings, like these were someone's rooms.
The rooms meant for boys are much the same, though they are more blue and green and flannel. But again, most of the doors are unlocked, even though the rooms look lived in.
On both sides, the rooms each have two beds, and two of everything.
The grounds themselves are well kept and neat with flowers and bushes and lots of places for sitting on the grass to enjoy the sun or share a picnic.
What is missing - in the dorms, on the grounds, in the perfectly clean classrooms are... people. The only people around are those who seem like you, newly arrived and confused.
And then, rushing right at you, are animals. Birds and rabbits and stray cats and dogs!
The Isle
You are in a graveyard. an old poorly cared for graveyard littered with trash. Old crushed cups and molded fruit cores. The whole place had an air of neglects with weeds springing up around what at first seemed to be tomb stones...
But a closer look might make one question them. For these were not tomb stones at all. There were no graves and what was carved into them wasn't names of the dearly departed, but rather sayings exulting evil. Celebrating it. These my dears, were doom stones.
But if the graveyard wasn't a graveyard, then what was the mausoleum that lorded over it all? Going inside would reveal it to be one of the most depressing suffocating horror houses of all - a high school. A poorly kept high school with drafty classrooms, a basement that stunk of mold and chemicals, and trash and graffiti everywhere. Many lockers are dented from the inside out, like something had been trying to escape. But it was eerily quiet now.
Some doors are locked. Most are not. But everything is just in a state of disrepair. One door has a giant spider guarding it, but everything else seems... deserted. Like this school had been abandoned long ago. With even the lights flickering, the whole thing feels almost haunted.
But if you try to use any magic or powers to light the way you might just find the scariest thing of all...
NO MAGIC WORKS HERE!

Fischl - Genshin Impact
The graveyard wasn't the most fitting of promenades for a Princess to arrive in but the school, if indeed the well worn building had once been a school, wasn't much better. Fischl spoke largely to herself as she explored, thinking that there weren't many people around to hear her anyway.
"While the tenebrosity of this academy is most reminiscent of the Immernachtreich the..."
Her face scrunched as she slightly broke character to hold her nose past a particularly foul, mold encrusted trashcan.
"...olfactory ambiance is most disagreeable."

Fischl reached for her bow which had always appeared in her hand upon her request previously but this time she was left with an empty palm.
"What?? Magic doesn't work here?"
no subject
She'd discovered that already herself. But hopefully the Somebody would be so distracted that she wouldn't pay any attention to the small Nobody in the cloak...

"I, Fischl, did bid you to halt! Speak now of the magic which destroys magic!"

Or couldn't she be understood? Usually Oz would be by her side, translating her royal decrees into the common tongue. Translating Fischl into something understandable was something the raven excelled at. But the Oz, like her bow, seemed to be missing.

"I inquired as to the state of your voice but I see it is not the ill-tidings of bad fortune that has taken it from you. If you are indeed not a force of malevolence then you need not fear. My Auge der Verurteilung seeks out only those whose intentions call forth calamity and destruction."

She really needed Oz.
"I am Fischl von Luftschloss Narfidort. Pray tell me your name so that the lines of fate that entwine us might be better understood."

"You believe this is an academy?" Cadeyrn couldn't see it himself. It had the air of a prison more than anything else, with its low ceilings, the lights flickering in their indecision whether to work or not. The weight of stone and dirt above their heads was almost as physical as the scents that stank the entire area. He would need time to clean an area-- any area at all-- to leave it fit for living in, even temporarily. He stepped away from the overly full trashcan, not wanting it to smear anything onto his clothes.
"I would expect books. Libraries." Disdain coloured his scowl as he glanced along their path. "A clean area if nothing else." Yeah, this was clearly annoying him. He'd need boiled water if nothing sharper. And rags. Lots and lots of rags.
no subject
Libraries! A school should have libraries, vast ones, that stretched from one end of a hall to another. Did this school not hold a single library? Not a single book!? How horrible!!
"Then truly this world is among the cursed. How have the threads of destiny brought us to such a depraved blackhole of empty imagination?"
no subject
But he didn't mean it that way.
"I just haven't found them yet." With the state of things around them, he doesn't hold much of a hope that any books, or indeed libraries, would have been spared. He shakes his head, a movement so slight it is almost nothing, before he goes on.
"There seems to be three levels to this--" He can't call it an academia. It doesn't deserve the title. "--building. The stairwells all access every floor. Upper floors have a higher response time to any outward threat, but lower floors have less risk in terms of demolition, as they were build sturdier." These are... not quite important facts, just things that he's noticed so far. He'd been going along on his way down, looking to see if there was anything useful within the school that they could use.
"I would assume the library would be at the lowest floors. I've only seen glimpses of it." He nods once at the blonde, waving at her. "But any books we'll find could be helpful. If you'd like to keep an eye on them, I would appreciate it." Build up resources. Safeguard water, food, and knowledge. While he doesn't want to trust the pipes in this building, they are better than nothing; and water can be boiled and filtered. Oh!
"Particularly anything on water filtration." He knows there are ways, he just doesn't know how. A library may hold this knowledge. "Can I ask this of you?" It's important. But she seems to be the best person to ask for this favour.

"My Auge der Verurteilung sees all the lines of fate and their convergences. Alas in this space it is not as reliable. A veil of malevolent darkness cloaks this world even from the visions of the Prinzessin."
With magic nullified and her in a world very much not like the one she had just come from it was difficult to know what to do. Searching for the library and a reliable water source did however sound like good places to start. This would be a dismal world indeed without any books within it and they wouldn't last long without clean drinking water.
She decided against checking the bathrooms for any. If the hallway was this bad the restroom situation must be a horror beyond any which could have been described in words. Lets hope for a well.
"You give off the auspice of a knight or skilled adventurer to have so quickly assessed the situation and discovered the strengths of this penitentiary? I, Fischl, do pledge to uncover the repository of knowledge and secure a means of purifying water if you will in turn search out a larder or storeroom which might contain the means to sustain ourselves."
Her stomach grumbled like the roar of a lion causing her to flush instantly in a bright crimson pink.
"I, um... might be growing peckish."
no subject
It certainly explains her extensive education and manners, and he nods his understanding. There's a slight narrowing to his eyes, and the curve of his lips deepens a fraction as she points out her own observations. Good.
"I can certainly try to find one." This is perhaps thwarting him a bit more in his plans. While he knows their first order of business would be to secure water, food is also a large concern of his, and he has little hopes to find any. But, she is right, in that if this is a school-- if this is an establishment to house people. There should be a larder. A food storage. Something.
If he has access to proper supplies, food would be the least of their worries. But their current state of affairs-- no. No he does not trust the food that has been thrown away. On any number of reasons.
"We'll need somewhere to cook it as well." If the solder has access to those both-- it would be a relief. For everyone. They'd need to draw a map of their area soon, as well. To know which rooms have been cleansed and which have their work cut out for them. Where they can store materials and where can they find a restful place.
So much to do. But Cadeyrn won't balk at it.
"Let's search the grounds and meet back--" 'Here' is too vague, a lost hallway in a sea of hallways. "At the front doors in an hour?" That seems a good alternative. He would have personally prioritized cleaning, but food is also a struggle to find. Balancing preventions against infection, thirst and hunger is going to be difficult at first, but if they can at least meet these basic needs, their stance here would be much stronger already.
And at least, dividing the tasks like this-- it'll make it all go quicker.
no subject
Cleaning at least a small livable space was pretty high on her list of priorities too but in a survival situation one needed to secure the essentials first. They had shelter... of a sort... but still needed food, water, and some means of keeping themselves warm in case the nights here dipped below freezing.
Fischl looked past him towards the doors, trying to memorize their location so that she could find them again after the hour had passed.
"Agreed. By then the sun will be waning, I hope to bring good tidings upon my return."

Normally Darkstalker would never dedicate his time towards talking to scavengers but this place seemed to have nothing but. Besides that, there was something intriguing about this one in particular.
"... So, tell me.. how many scrolls did you physically consume prior to winding up in this dump?"
1/2
Erm...
It wasn't often when the stairs upon which you were about to tread suddenly moved and spoke to you. Still she quickly recovered her form.

"Salutations to you as well.." He trailed off thoughtfully before looping one of his talons through the air. "I can think of something that would be more filling than scrolls as it is." Meaning, well- her. Eh, but then he would be completely alone again. Scavengers had never been all that alluring to him as foodstuffs anyway. Any true seer would be apprehensive since they could sense the complex emotions keenly of the diminutive creatures. Still, he had to make the joke. "Trust me, I don't need a library explained to me. The Night Kingdom had the most extensive collection in all of Pyrrhia." Finding the way she phrased that borderline insulting. "Still does, really.. though many of the scrolls require careful handling and restoration."
no subject
Fischl kept this as an option while the conversation continued. If he was insulted by her reminders of libraries then she also was insulted over the thought of eating scrolls in the first place. Such wonderful things as books or scrolls should never be destroyed!
"Then you also hail from the Immernachtreich? Pray tell which region, perhaps the highest peaks which soar so loftily into the sky that their mighty summits are shrouded in ever dark night?"
no subject
"I should be so fortunate," The dragon replied airly, in a voice as smooth as silk. In this instance he meant it, since Night Wings were more nocturnal than other tribes. "Although.. I've had my fill of mountains for the time being."
"I don't think we're from the same place of origin." Just a guess, really. "The scavengers I know are... Hm.. how to put this politely, are not as well learned or eloquent as one such as yourself."
no subject
She stuck a pose with one hand covering her all seeing Auge der Verurteilung which really looks impressive when her electro powers sparkle around her fingertips... sadly here without magic the special effects were missing.
"But perhaps here we have all been reduced. There were no kind words of greeting or resplendent dignitaries to aide us upon our arrival. This world contains a seething malady that draws the essence from all living things."
And it smelled! YUCK! Who just leaves garbage laying around like this!?
"Truly it is a discarded world."
