Y'know? If he had seen this dragon a few months ago, it would have answered a whole lot of questions. Who was Mal's dad was one of the big mysteries of the Isle. Not so much because of Mal - though there was a girl with potential - but because of her mother. Because who would Maleficent... Yeah, a month ago, a big black ticked off dragon would have made all the sense in the world to the Shadow Man.
But now? He was just another of the Misery Called. The displaced. Which meant he was now Doctor Facilier's problem. And he might have, at one time kissed up... or more realistically pretended to kiss up to trick the dragon into the deal of a lifetime. But now he was attempting to - ugh - be good. For his daughter’s sake. He wanted to be in Auradon when they returned. And that meant proving himself good. The things he did for those girls...
But, hey, what could con those goodie two shoes into thinking he was reformed like reforming a dragon? Sure, it would be a horrible blow to the forces of evil, but it would catapult him right into the lap of luxury.
So he would try to pretend to care. Because he did care. Just not about this Isle or that dragon. But about what that dragon could mean for his future.
So he stepped outside, hand on his hat to keep it from being blown away. "You trying to clean this mess or redecorate, friend?" he called up to the creature.
