The clattering noise of the can ultimately creates something of a chain reaction. What has no doubt thrown Xion at least somewhat off, really throws Emporio off- the boy yelping in alarm and jumping with enough force that he falls away from the wall.
And that in turn sends another pile of trash laying around clanking, the scattering debris creating a cacophony of noise. "AHHH-!!"
...And, well, from there the first one he sees is the figure in black who saw him.
"...HAHH-!!"
So now two people are stuck where they were going to hide, and now aren't, because of Things.
