Oui Sports - Winter Edition

Sports are a great way to warm up on a cold day, but sadly all the outdoor sports Ben was ready to teach... Well none of them play so well in a foot plus of snow. And that foot plus was after getting help from those with magic who could melt some of it down for them. And when Mal was asked about winter sports on the Isle the answer was "It's more like... gang activity, than sports. And if someone broke their leg, we kinda laughed, so... Not really applicable here."

So they instead asked the Missrecalled to show off games and sports that can be played in deep snow. But the best games need more than one person, so maybe you need to find someone to play with?

Happy Little Cleaning Song

After so long with so many people all cramped into the school for so long that there was more than a little bit of mess. They could use a hand clearing everything up. Whistling while you work and a spoonful of sugar were both advised. But cleaning was always a better task with a buddy! And Team Work Makes The Dream Work, right?

What had once been a dank and dreary school in a mausoleum was now an icy dreary one. The ground outside was a mix of ice, muddy slush, and rocks. Neither fun nor pretty. But it was probably safer outside than in, and easier to be active dodging doomstones than skidding down the halls into broken lockers. But it was still frigid out. Perhaps some activity would help warm you up. But what? And whom with? Snowball fights might be a little extra dangerous, with all the muck mixed in and no place to go warm up. But maybe someone might be up for it anyway? Or stealing a doomstone to sled down the roof? What are you gonna do to stay warm?

Got No Chill?

Someone decided that there needed to be a fire to warm people up. Maybe that would have been a good idea, if the person who had started the fire had anything clue about fire safety. They - or maybe you! - had started the fire in one of the classrooms using broken desks for kindling. But the fire quickly spread to the other desks in the room and with so much paper detritus in the halls! Stop the fire, warn people, run away! Pick you poison but do it fast, the way this fire's spreading, this school might not last!

"Well... the people in charge are King Ben and Queen Mal..." she got that sparkly look in her eyes again. "An actual king and queen! And I actually got to meet them!" she said, dreamily.

She may have lost the rest of what she had been about to say.

"Are they here?" Sephiroth interrupted, looking around for them as he spoke. Would they stand out as royalty or just look like any of the others?

She nodded, looking around. "Ah... there is King Ben," she said pointing to a young blond fellow dodging snowballs. "And the Queen... ah, there she is," she said, pointing to Mal. Mal was a purple haired girl in dark leathers spray painted in green and purple over black. She was sitting on a chair, only the bottoms of her heeled purple boots in the snow. She looked perfectly dry, unlike most everyone else. She was leaned back slightly, going back and forth between watching the snowball fight and writing or drawing something in her leather bound book.

... Yes, they certainly were blending in. But that was more appealing than them being stuck-up royals.

Perhaps Mal was the more serious one, since she was staying out of the snowball fight. He might attempt to talk to her first.

"Have they been ruling long?" It wouldn't seem so, but age and time weren't always what they seemed to be back home.

"Um... I think it's been about a month for the Queen, but I'm not sure. I only recently found out that I missed two birthdays so time seems a little weird here."

A month or less somehow becoming two years was more than a little weird.

"Why are people unable to leave?" he wondered.

"Um.. okay so... I think I have it right now. Basically someone got a genie lamp and wished everyone away, and the genie panicked after granting the wish and tried to bring us all back, but a wizard got in the way and the magic exploded. and now there is a fairy here and the rest of us!"

... That was a story.

"So why can't the wizard and the genie fix what they caused?" Sephiroth asked.

"Well, I think the genie is in a coma now and we haven't seen the wizard for a while..."

Sephiroth was not impressed. "He just left everyone to deal with his mess?"

"That I don't know, I don't think I got to meet him."

"He hardly sounds efficient."

Unless possibly he left to find a way to fix everything, but then why wouldn't he have said that's what he was doing?

"He's a wizard! He's probably consorting with fairies for their magical wisdom!" she said, smiling brightly.

"Hmm. I suppose that's possible," he said. "Wizards are a strange lot. It's hard to say." He had had some odd conversations with the ones he knew.

She nodded. "The Queen probably knows more, though."

"I should talk to her," he said. "Will I need a formal introduction?"

She shook her head. "She's a fairytale queen and yet... she's actually really friendly. Well, sort of. But I can walk you over if you want to?"

"Yes," Sephiroth replied. He would be fine with just going over by himself, but he supposed he should try to adhere to at least some rules of decorum around royalty. A formal introduction was one.

She nodded. "Alright." she headed that way. "Come on!"

Sephiroth followed, wondering what this meeting would be like. It had been a long time since he had met any royalty.

Kyoko brought him to the purple haired young lady who had been watching the snow games.

She turned and looked over at them. "New arrival?" she asked. She didn't have anyway to know that he knew her mother. But everyone did keep telling her how much she looked like her. That used to make her so proud, these days it just made her sad.

Sephiroth actually didn't see much resemblance and wouldn't have connected them if he hadn't been told.

"Yes, Your Majesty," he said, dropping to one knee. "I am Sephiroth from Hollow Bastion." More properly called Radiant Garden now, but most likely still knew the other name.

She blinked, surprised, then grinned. "Well... welcome, Sephiroth of Hollow Bastion. Has anyone taken you to the welcome area yet?"

Sephiroth straightened. "No, they haven't. What is this welcome area?"

One of the Missrecalled, Lea, has set up an area to give information to new people. It is also where we are giving out cellphones to everyone."
