Take It or Leaf It
Autumn had begun to set in in Auradon. Normally, for the residents of Auradon Prep it would be a time for bonfire parties, drinking mulled cider, certain dances, festivals, and other seasonal events; as well as chatting about the latest fashion trends in jackets and scarves. But with the current situation and the lack of groundskeepers, Autumn meant that it was time for something else: raking leaves. There were quite a few trees on the grounds and most of them had been turning a variety of bright, fiery colors over the past two weeks. And as was usual for the season, those leaves were rapidly beginning to cover the ground. Which for better or worse meant that it was time for the Misrecalled to grab some rakes and get to work. At least there'd be one - or more - awesome leaf piles for anyone inclined to jump into one at the end of it.
Going Nuts
It wasn't all bad news though. Because while none of the trees on the grounds bore any seasonal fruit, a few of them did bear nuts. And with the coming of cooler weather, those nuts were ripe for the harvesting, many of them beginning to drop off the trees. So those not up to raking could grab a basket and go out to do their best impression of a squirrel, gathering nuts to store away for later. The results would both be tasty and a welcome addition to the school's food supply.
Isle
Holding On the Line
Most of the Isle's food supply these days came from the sea. Which, for many of its residents, meant that their days were often spent staring at a line in the water, waiting and hoping for a nibble. This was dull enough at the best of times assuming one wasn't an avid fisherman, but even more so when the fish were being uncooperative. And the latter was definitely the case today, with most of those fishing having not had a bite in hours. Did that prompt complaints? The desire to give up and go take a nap? Pointed critiques of each other's fishing technique? Or were you one of the lucky buggers who actually caught something and you're in the mood to gloat about it to the others to annoy them?
Heck for Leather
If there was one staple of Isle fashion aside form its general raggedness, it was the inclusion of leather. And why not? After all, leather was sturdy, hard wearing, and a must for pirates and punks alike. It made one look cool and tough and totally not like they had escaped from the set of a made for TV movie aimed at teens and tweens. But with access only to what was left in the lockers, it was in somewhat limited supply. There was, however, a solution to this; making their own. The recent killing of party-crashing alligator had provided not only meat but a tough, scaly hide ripe for leather making. With a bit of help from Yen Sid's chemistry supplies and some good old fashioned elbow grease of course.
Or if leather wasn't one's style, there was also the bones and teeth. After all, nothing said 'heck yeah, I'm a villain' quite like a few skeletal accessories. And they would also make for some very handy tools if one knew how to shape them. So many possibilities, so few alligator bits...

Roxas | Kingdom Hearts 2 | Spoilers Be Warned
Date: 2 Jan 2024 16:30 (UTC)Roxas was annoyed. He hadn't expected to wake up after that summer- week- whatever it had been, at all. Definitely not in some worse for wear castle grounds. He was most annoyed because he couldn't seem to access a dark corridor. He'd left the Organization to find some kind of answer to his existence, then that forking Riku had intercepted him and ruined what was left of his life. He was emotionally- ha, him, emotional, what were the worlds coming to- wrung out. He regretted fighting with Axel. He wished he could take that all back. He'd been the tiniest bit relieved to surrender himself back to Sora, but nothing could ever go his way it seemed.
Now he was stuck in this Auradon place with no answers, no friends, and something called a rake. Someone had shoved it into his hands and explained using it to gather the leaves in the yard. He'd kind of listened. He'd only kind of been listening since he woke up here. He didn't love the idea of talking to strangers or them talking to him, so he'd found the furthest tree on the grounds and experimented with raking.
He'd had his hood up to try and help keep people away, so far it was working, but the autumn day had dawned a bit warm today and the heavy organization cloak he'd woken back up in once again was sticking to him uncomfortably. This also annoyed him. He sighed and dropped the rake on the ground beside his half-donkeyed pile of leaves, leaning up against the tree trunk to sulk. He let his eyes slide shut and hoped for some kind of answer, not that the universe had ever helped him before, it could always change it's mind though.
Holding on the Line
Roxas was ready to throw himself in with the fishes at this point. He'd been sitting on the beach staring at the spot where the line disappeared beneath the angry waves for longer than he cared to keep track of. This was not what he'd been expecting when he'd let himself go back to Sora. A black void maybe. Worst case scenario being stuck watching Sora's stupid life through his stupid eyes or something. Not an endless vigil on a cold damp beach with nothing but his thoughts. He'd already thought himself in so many circles he was dizzy. Dizzy and bored. So bored. He liked tasks, he liked knowing what he was supposed to be doing, but this hardly counted.
He groaned and flopped down onto his back. He already had sand everywhere. The clouds were barely visible through the thick air but the waves were starting to make him seasick. He missed seasalt ice cream.
He glanced at some of the other restless fishers scattered down the beach, some were gathered in clumps chatting, some of them even looked to be having fun, others were alone like him. He wasn't quite desperate enough to engage with the strangers yet. Some of the people on the island didn't look overly friendly anyway. He went back to looking at the sky and waiting for something to happen.
Holding on the Line- CW: blood
Date: 3 Jan 2024 05:22 (UTC)Foulques stared at the water intently, hardly moving, until suddenly, he struck. A violent thrashing erupted near him that had nothing to do with the waves, one accompanied by a small cloud of red spreading through the water. After a moment though, the thrashing stopped. Foulques grinned fiercely, then turned and headed back for shore, pulling the end of his spear out of the water; impaled on the end of it was a large eel, still twitching occasionally. "This will make for some good eating," he said to anyone within earshot. "And mayhap with him gone, our luck will improve, at least once the blood clears. I imagine his presence was frightening away a good deal of the smaller fish."

Date: 3 Jan 2024 05:40 (UTC)What if it was Saïx? Xehanort? She took a step back in terror, her foot crunching on leaves and cracking a branch under her boot. It sounded loud in the quiet day.
Re: Roxas | Kingdom Hearts 2 | Spoilers Be Warned
Date: 3 Jan 2024 05:42 (UTC)Well she knew where Xion was, and besides, only one heart felt like this one. She smiled warmly and jogged over. "Roxas!" She said, tone warm with joy and love. "Your friends will be so happy to see you!" She was for sure.
Re: Roxas | Kingdom Hearts 2 | Spoilers Be Warned
Date: 3 Jan 2024 13:09 (UTC)The figure was small, too small to be Axel, or most of the other Organization members. Probably. Hopefully. He couldn't help but think of the imposter though. Riku. The reason for his predicament. Anger usurped the annoyance as the most prominent feeling in his non-heart.
He pushed himself away from the tree and prepared to summon his keyblades at the first sign of trouble. He wasn't going to lose a second time. If Riku was back because Sora still hadn't awakened, well, he'd have to find some other way, because Roxas was done letting his destiny be controlled by other people.
He clenched a fist and stepped forward. "Who are you?"
Re: Roxas | Kingdom Hearts 2 | Spoilers Be Warned
Date: 3 Jan 2024 14:43 (UTC)Roxas was not in the habit of trusting strangers after recent events, but this woman's knowledge of his name, paired with the genuine joy on her face, was enough that he was willing to risk it. She'd mentioned his friends. He had to know if she meant Axel.
He... hadn't ever thought he'd see Axel again, for a variety of reasons too long to list at the moment. Wasn't sure what he would say to Axel if this woman did know where he was. It crossed his mind she might just mean the other Organization members, the cloak was a dead giveaway. But... He had to know. He would figure out the rest as he went, he was great at that.
He lowered his hood, seeing no point in hiding behind it if this woman could tell his identity even with it on. "What do you mean about my friends? Do you know Axel?" He stepped away from the tree. "And who are you? How do you know my name?"
Re: Holding on the Line- CW: blood
Date: 3 Jan 2024 18:14 (UTC)You know what, he was going to go stir crazy if he sat with sand in his pants much longer. Throw caution to the wind, he might as well get some answers if he could.
He left his fishing rod in its spot burrowed into the sand and traipsed over toward the lance man. "Excuse me. You seem to know a thing or two about the fish situation. What is that thing?" He held back the question, but on closer inspection he had half a mind to ask if it was a heartless. It certainly looked strange enough. A lot of people didn't know heartless by name though, so he didn't bother. He'd never seen a heartless drip quite so much blood upon their death on second thought. They usually just disintegrated. He wished he could summon his keyblades, it was uncomfortable being so defenceless if there were creatures like that thing lurking around. He shuddered and refocused on the lance man, hoping to maybe finally get some satisfying answers.

She had been terrified for a long time now what would happen if another version of her showed up. If she had to share Axel, and Roxas when he showed up....

Date: 3 Jan 2024 21:25 (UTC)"Roxas?" she asked, in a gasp. A single tear ran down her face as she sprinted towards him. "Roxas! You're here!"
For someone so sure she had emotions, that sure sounded like relief and joy in how she said his name that second time.
he's touch starved okay
Date: 3 Jan 2024 21:33 (UTC)"Well, it's salty. And sweet. And blue. Does that help?" Hopefully they could get it just right before Axel showed up. He should see if they could put a winner stick in one... He wondered if Axel ever got the one Roxas left for him.

Why was it always a different Roxas? Why did she have to do this again and again and again?
