Once upon a dream... (4th Wall Event/TDM Combo platter)

For Jordan, still comatose after the magical mishap that had resulted in the first Misrecalled being summoned, it began with a dream. A dream so strong, that it had her stirring fitfully even in her current state; and eventually caused her to release an uncontrolled burst of magic.

For everyone else, unaware of what was coming, it began with falling asleep. Whether or not someone was tired before hand, whether they even could sleep, they simply fell asleep - or a reasonable facsimile - wherever they happened to be. Maybe they remembered falling asleep, maybe they didn't. But either way they suddenly found themselves in... a very strange place.

First all there was that they could see was a vast featureless plain in shining gold and silken draperies. But that was only a glimpse, for just by existing in this space, each dreamer warps it. Changes it. Not all at once, but bits, constantly changing between them and whomever they encounter. Each person brings with them bits of three places... where they had been last, a familiar place from memory, and whatever place they call home. But this is constantly changing and shifting, more so the more dreamers are present in any space. Before long, Bits of different landscapes, different environments, even different weather conditions will cover the landscape like some crazy patchwork quilt. Here a bit of a sunny, idyllic garden, there a section of shadowy, graffiti covered slum. To one side, a chunk of charming cobblestone streets under sunset tinged skies, to the other, a forest of towering trees, some of which seem to be moving. And glimpsed through the gaps between some of the odd terrain sections, some remainder of the poorly defined golden space, hung with colorful draperies could still be seen.

And the ground itself was not immune to the changes. While the ground on which they stood might seem stable enough, if someone walked more than a few paces in any direction, that could change. Solid ground could become shifting sand. Or water. Or a wall might suddenly appear to block their path. Doors might lead to places they definitely shouldn't or open to the edge of a sheer cliff. And if the complete lack of logic to the landscape wasn't enough of an indication that this was some sort of dream, then the unreadable signs would clinch it. Because any signs - or indeed, anything with writing on it that they didn't have on their person when they arrived - was covered with nothing but unreadable gibberish.

And it got even more surreal when a dreamer spotted anyone else in the dreamspace, or even looked at their own reflection - for each person appears in the dream in whatever way they see themselves. So someone with low self confidence might be short, someone with a huge ego might tower. If someone sees themselves as a horrible criminal who needs to repent, they might be in prison togs. If the change is dramatic enough people who know each other well might still fail to recognize each other within the dreaming.

Now normally such a bizarre dream might have been put down to stress, a meal that disagreed with them, or maybe indulging in some sort of illicit substance, but this clearly was no ordinary dream, if for no other reason than that in this dream, they weren't alone. The other people they encounter are not just figments of their imagination, and they too change the shared dream space.

Those already either on the Isle or in the kingdom of Auradon proper would find themselves all thrown together in the bizarre dreamworld. And that would have been strange enough. But more than the current populations of Auradon and the Isle could be found in this place. Maybe the faces where familiar. Maybe they weren't. But they definitely hadn't turned up in the physical world that was home to Ben and Mal. Yet anyway.

Given the extremely variable geography, exploring the area might be dangerous. At least as dangerous as anything in a dream could be. But investigating might help them find a way back to the physical world faster, for those who realize they are dreaming. Or they could just stand around and talk or complain about the latest bit of magical weirdness to happen to them and hope they woke up soon. Or they could go with it and enjoy the weird. It was their dream, after all. They could pretty much do what they liked. Or at least try to. Either way, they seemed stuck there for the present, for better or worse.

"Somewhat younger than you," she said with a chuckle. "Though not half as adorable." She ruffled his hair again. "I really hope you're here with me when I wake up, Ven. I've missed you."

Adorable? Ah, Aqua...!

[Ven half pouts and half chuckles at that. As he clumsily might attempt to lightly bat her hand from his hair. Not that it ever really looks that neat and tidy even when she isn't ruffling it, or Terra for that matter. But he tries. To look at least a little presentable. For the most part.]

Not sure if there's a way I have any control on that...?

She pulled him into a tight hug either. "I'm not sure either. But we can hope. And trust in the connections between our hearts. In the end, we alway find each other. Aways will."

Aqua...! But. Right. I still have my thing you made. The Wayfinder.

[Ven doesn't push her away though. He will return the hug after a brief moment where he clicks she is hugging him again. He returns it, his arms around her waist as best he can as she pulls him to her again. Ven is at least used to her, to Terra, ruffling his hair and treating him like a little brother tagging along with them.]

"I'm glad you still have it, Ven. And I know I will always have you. You will always be my wonderful baby brother." She kissed his hair, not letting him free of the hug yet.

I'm hardly a baby anymore, Aqua.

[He wasn't even when she first met him back when Xehanort first brought him to Eraqus. To her and Terra. It isn't like Ven would deny their relationship, their dynamic is akin to what most probably figure as siblings, as Ven being the younger and Aqua and Terra the older brother and sister.]

"I have to call you something. You're going to be taller than me soon, so little is out," she teased lovingly.

You think I'm getting taller?

[Ven can't help but to be excited at that. Given he had always been the younger, shorter of the three of them. It would feel nice to at least be able to catch up to the others. He isn't necessarily thinking on if he ends up taller than her. Just that he isn't always so obviously smaller, younger.]

She chuckled and tightened the hug before letting him go. "Oh yes. Don't tell Terra I told you, but I think he keeps his hair like that to put off the day when you'll be taller than he is," she teased with a wink.

What? No....?

[He isn't sure if he really believes that, but at the same time it was kind of funny regardless. To imagine that to be the reason for Terra's hair style. That he was that keen to stay taller than Ven, the shortest and youngest of the trio. She has to be teasing, Ven figures, though it does get a giggle from him when she winks.]

"Of course given how spiky your hair is..." her eyes were twinkling now.

Mine? It just does this.

[As much as he might try to tame it. As much as he might wish his hair were neater. The same could be said if someone else was to attempt to tame his hair and straighten it out more. If he had to look presentable, more formal, anyone would struggle if they were trying to figure his hair.]

She chuckled. "Oh I know. but it will certainly help. Almost as much as his."

Then she sighed. "I know this is a dream but... does it make me terribly selfish if I wish I didn't have to wake up?" she asked in a soft whisper, a haunted look slipping into her eyes at this moment of selfishness. A single tear ran down her face. She didn't notice it.

When you're back, awake, you can come find me. It's okay. But I'll be here. As long as you need.

[He shifts, his head tilting slightly as be gives her a small smile. Ven does at least want to be here for her while he could. Whether he was still around when she wakes up might not be assured but at the least, he was here now. May as well make the most of it, whatever was to come afterwards, he figures.]

She nodded and leaned lightly against him. "I'll always come find you Ven. Even if it takes me a while. And we'll always find Terra. And When I've been lost.. you two have always found me." A warm smile. "Doesn't stop me from missing you between."

Didn't stop her... from always having to say goodbye. From always having to leave. This Ven, she was sure, like all the others... he had an Aqua waiting for him. An Aqua that... wasn't her.

Another tear fell despite her smile.

She stood. "We shouldn't waste what time we have." She summoned her Keyblade. "Have you been practicing?"

When in doubt, a good workout chased away the sad thoughts.

For a little while, at least.

[Ven lets her lean against him. It isn't like she weighs that much, that he can't support her at least for a little, even if she is taller. He blinks when she stands, summoning her Keyblade. He does the same, in summoning his own and getting to his feet.]

Course.

[He, of course, moves to strike first to start their spar, as he probably almost always does.]

She laughed as she blocked, jumping back. She had been right. This had been exactly what she needed to shake off the upset.

"That the best you can do now, Ven?" she teased gently.

No. Just getting started.

[Not that he wants to go all out and potentially hurt her, but. They've figured that balance for the most part. In generally only maybe getting minor scrapes or such from sparring, in having figured that balance of getting a workout, not getting rusty, keeping each other in shape and on their toes without fully exhausting themselves. It comes from years of sparring together, and against Terra for that matter.

He withdraws slightly when she blocks,before leaping forwards and striking again, this time lower.]

She's not really worried about either of them getting too badly hurt, herself. After all even of this wasn't a dream, she has heal spells. So does he. And more... She would never fully go all out against him anyway. And she got a bit hurt herself.. that was fine. It would just mean he was getting stronger.

When he went low, she jumped up and tried for over, a hand on the top of his head to propel herself behind him.

[Ventus is still training, still not a Master the way she is. The way Terra had taken the exam to potentially be. But that doesn't mean that he isn't able to generally hold his own. When she leaps and he feels that hand at his head, he tries to spin to face her, to be ready to block her if he is quick enough to do so. Even if he knows that she wouldn't go all out, doesn't mean he wouldn't still try defend if he has the chance. If he is quick enough.]

He is quick enough for sure. As her Keyblade hits his block, she jumped back, ready to see what he planned to do.

[Ven blocks, then shifts, pushing off with his back foot when she jumps back to leap in after her. He strikes higher this time, aiming at her chest area rather than lower as he had done just now, at her legs. He's quicker than Terra, but not quite as fast as she is. He's not going all out, not pushing that hard but he is still trying to get a bit of a work out.]

She also loved a workout. And... well since this was safer than actual combat, why not try a new move, see if it worked. See if she could do it. As his Keyblade swung at her she tried to time into the swing and jumped. Not back, not just up, but... in. Her hands reached for the arc of his swing, trying to spring herself off his Keyblade.

A tricky bit of athletics. A second off and...

Yeah, she was a second off. One of her hands hit his blade, but the other hand missed and she hadn't pressed fast enough... his blade slammed into her hand, sending her rolling back across the ground.

Aqua? Are you okay?

[Ven hadn't meant for her to get thrown back like that, and he pauses, dismissing his weapon as he approaches to check on her. To make sure she was alright. That her hand was okay, that she hadn't gotten hurt rolling back like that. He's prepared to cure her if he needs to to help.]

She nodded and cast Cureaga herself. She gave him a small smile. "Guess that move didn't work quite as I planned," she said with a chuckle.
