She likely would not know the Vuhlkansu hand signal for live long and prosper. Him offering it right before stepping out of this scene did not provide any kind of context to show it wasn't inherently rude. It wasn't even a normal gesture for him except when actually around Vuhlkansu, but sometimes he needed something that could say he was entirely done with this without words.
